The Full Story

About Crime Stoppers

Crime Stoppers began in 1976 when a detective in Albuquerque, NM ran out of leads on a homicide case and wanted to encourage community members to come forward anonymously.

By removing the fear of retaliation and offering rewards, Crime Stoppers became a trusted bridge between law enforcement and the public.

Here in Nebraska, the first chapter launched in Lincoln/Lancaster County in 1980.

This program directly contributes to the safety of our community by helping get tip information to the proper agency and solving criminal cases, thereby making Lincoln and Lancaster a safer place.
